Agnosia Inability to recognize stimuli in a sensory modality in spite of intact sensation in the modality. Several varieties of agnosia have been described in the literature, including auditory agnosia, visual agnosia, tactile agnosia, and combinations such as auditory-verbal agnosia and visual-verbal agnosia.
